Pre-Apprenticeship
Pre-apprenticeships and youth apprenticeships terms are often used interchangeably, but they are not always the same. Both are designed to prepare individuals to enter and succeed in a registered apprenticeship or other high-quality apprenticeship program, but pre-apprenticeship can be used by both youth and adults. High-quality, pre-apprenticeship and youth apprenticeship programs link directly and bridge to existing apprenticeship programs. They provide instruction, preparation and support necessary to advance participants to apprenticeship programs or careers.
YouthBuild
Pre-apprenticeships provide individuals with opportunities to explore fields of interest and get a jumpstart on their careers. They give your students another pathway to obtaining a great career after they graduate. In Utah, YouthBuild offers pre-apprenticeships in construction and healthcare.
Youth Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship programs for youth between the ages of 16-24 combine academic and technical classroom instruction with work experience. These programs provide the foundation for youth to choose among multiple pathways — to enroll in college, begin full-time employment or a combination of both. In Utah, the Talent Ready Apprenticeship Connection provides youth the opportunity to begin their apprenticeship in high school. Participants will receive their high school diploma, work for a TRAC partner and earn an Associate of Applied Science degree upon completion of their apprenticeship.
