What are Apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships are industry-driven, high-quality career pathways where employers develop and prepare their future workforce and individuals obtain paid work experience, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally-recognized credential. Traditionally, apprenticeships are pursued in sectors like construction and manufacturing, but Utah companies sponsor apprenticeship programs in a variety of industries including healthcare and technology.

Why Consider an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships can jumpstart or further your career path while allowing you to develop new skills in high-demand industries, all without student loan debt. Apprenticeships offer an alternative to a traditional four-year degree. Through an apprenticeship program, you can obtain paid, relevant workplace experience while gaining the skills and credentials that employers value. As you master new skills, you will receive wage increases throughout your apprenticeship. In Utah, a fully proficient worker can earn up to $60,000 annually upon completion of an apprenticeship.
